Having a narrow world view is dangerous & such thinking and actions are limited to your own insight.
You can’t let one ideology rule you.
Letting one ideology rule is not only dangerous, it can bring you to reject and neglect the dignity of other people.
It also limits your experiences.
If you want to write great things, or make great things, you have to be able to reach for a wider influence.
A person reading from only one book is sure to be limited in value.
Their research will be flawed.
But if you approach your work with a foundation that is built by drawing together ideas and knowledge, you’ll produce something of much greater value.
If your goal is simply enjoying watching, reading and listening to the vast majority of award winning and exceptional content out there, you have to be prepared to relax your world view and let someone else’s in.
Question everything. Be excited to be wrong.
Every debate we have becomes an opportunity for me to grow, become a better thinker produces better work.
I’m excited to be wrong, because I am aware of my limits.
I’m not anywhere near perfect, and I am not and have no need to be the smartest person in the room.
By being open to more than one book, I think I am a better person, a better friend, and a stronger writer.
“If someone is able to show me that what I think or do is not right, I will happily change, for I seek the truth, by which no one was ever truly harmed. It is the person who continues in his self-deception and ignorance who is harmed.”
– Marcus Aurelius
